JBC Emulsifiers

  • JBC produces a range of water-in-oil (w/o) emulsifiers

  • Why are w/o emulsions so desirable in specific applications?

    • fantastic spreadability

    • forms a long-lasting, continuous and protective film on the skin or hair follicle

    • able to mimic the skin's lipid barrier 

  • Why consider using JBC w/o emuslifiers?

    • significant cost advantage versus Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone emulsifiers

    • functional equivalence in most applications

  • Choosing between JBC Emulsifier Base 2 and Base 3​

    • Base 2 is compatible with all tested preservative systems​

    • Base 3 must be used with a phenoxyethanol based preservative, e.g. Euxyl 9010

    • Base 2 is used at 1.75% to 2.5%

    • Base 3 is used at a slightly lower dosage, 1.3% to 2.0%, typically 80% of Base 2

    • Base 3 has slightly lower odor threshold than Base 2
