JBC Emulsifiers
-
JBC produces a range of water-in-oil (w/o) emulsifiers
-
Why are w/o emulsions so desirable in specific applications?
-
fantastic spreadability
-
forms a long-lasting, continuous and protective film on the skin or hair follicle
-
able to mimic the skin's lipid barrier
-
-
Why consider using JBC w/o emuslifiers?
-
significant cost advantage versus Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone emulsifiers
-
functional equivalence in most applications

-
Choosing between JBC Emulsifier Base 2 and Base 3
-
Base 2 is compatible with all tested preservative systems
-
Base 3 must be used with a phenoxyethanol based preservative, e.g. Euxyl 9010
-
Base 2 is used at 1.75% to 2.5%
-
Base 3 is used at a slightly lower dosage, 1.3% to 2.0%, typically 80% of Base 2
-
Base 3 has slightly lower odor threshold than Base 2
